Research Focus

In the Department for Clinical Neurosciences, studies address vestibular function in health and disease from eye movement recordings to perception using various methods such as psychophysical measurements, eye movement recordings, fMRI, and computational modeling. Amgen scholars can actively participate in carrying out fMRI experiments, conduct small psychophysical projects on their own and, depending on their mathematical and programming skills, help in analyzing the data or even contribute to modeling.

Some project examples:

  • Investigating navigation in a virtual reality surrounding, using head mounted displays

  • Measuring perception of spatial orientation, during and after whole-body rotations on a 2-axis rotating chair

Primary Technique(s): psychophysical measurements, motion stimulation (rotating chairs, virtual reality), eye movement recordings, motion analysis, fMRI, computational modeling
